Overview

A ram pump is a cyclic water pump that uses hydropower. It takes in water at one hydraulic head (pressure) and flow rate, and outputs water at a higher hydraulic head and lower flow rate. Our Willett™ Pump is a vertical, single-acting positive displacement ram pump, which is designed for long life, low maintenance and optimum energy efficiency.

A ram pump uses a water hammer effect to develop pressure. This allows a portion of the input water that powers the pump to be lifted to a point higher than where the water originally started. This makes the ram pump ideal for use where water is needed to be pumped to a destination higher in elevation than the source. It needs no other power than the kinetic energy of the flowing water.
