Severn Trent Water needed to upgrade its Clowne, Derbyshire wastewater treatment site to meet tighter WFD permit limits while also handling increased wastewater from population growth. The site’s limited footprint and overhead power line restrictions made expansion and construction particularly challenging.
The Solution
We provided a compact, custom-designed solution by installing two AnoxKaldnes™ MBBR systems, which use biofilm carriers and aeration to efficiently remove ammonia and phosphorus within the site’s limited footprint.
