Veolia Water helps to add a touch of variety
Staff at Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies in Birmingham Business Park got a surprise visit from six year old Syeda Islam last week. Syeda has severe acquired brain injury, right-side weakness and communication difficulties, which made it impossible for family outings. Variety, the Children's Charity, which is Veolia Water UK's "charity of the year" partner, was able to provide Syeda (pictured with sister Maahirah) with a specialist car seat, and her Mum and Dad, Shaheela and Sayed, wanted to make their first family visit to the Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies offices to meet and say'thank you' to some of the people who raised the funds. Marketing Communications Manager, Sue Tucker, commented "Meeting Syeda and her family, and knowing that they now have the opportunity to get out and about to visit family and friends as well as taking Syeda to and from school, has been tremendously rewarding".
Throughout the year, staff across Veolia Water UK, which also includes Marlow based ELGA Process Water, have been raising money for Variety by holding raffles, car boot sales and themed events as well as taking part in challenge activities such as Ironman Triathlon, skydives and runs. Variety's Major Accounts Manager, Colleen Ettridge, is delighted with the result:
“Variety is very grateful for the support it receives from its partnership with Veolia Water UK.The funds raised are helping to make a big impact on the wellbeing of children like Syeda who, with our help, can lead more fulfilling lives.”
